About Ryan
Hello, music enthusiasts! My name is Ryan Waller, and I'm on a mission to ignite your passion for music. With a degree in Commercial Music from South Plains College and 3 years of experience as a dedicated music educator, I've had the privilege of guiding countless students on their musical journeys.
My love for music began when I was 10 years old, and a brand new game called Guitar Hero hit the shelves. My mom bought me a copy as a birthday present, and I fell in love with it immediately. Day in and day out, I played that game as if my life depended on it. Eventually, it got to the point where my mom decided that I should start learning how to play a real guitar. So, she bought me an electric guitar, signed me up for lessons, and the rest was history… or at least I wish it was.
I first started playing guitar when I was 12 years old, and just like most 12-year-olds, I hated playing guitar because it was “too hard”. As the years went on, I slowly started to regret not learning how to play, and it wasn’t until I was in college that I started practicing consistently and taking it seriously.
I started off like most guitar players do, trying to teach myself through YouTube videos and various online programs. After a while, I realized that I was getting nowhere fast, and I needed a guitar teacher. I started taking lessons at School of Rock and joined their Adult Band.
After doing that for about a year, I decided that I wanted to pursue music even further and get a degree, so I began taking classes at South Plains College in Levelland, TX. At SPC, I got a ton of experience playing live on stage and playing various genres with several different bands. It was a blast! Before I knew it, two years had gone by in the blink of an eye, and I had my degree in commercial guitar.
Throughout all of my years playing guitar, I've immersed myself in playing Rock, Metal, and Blues music, while also learning how to sing in those genres. I believe that having such a diverse background is what allows me to offer a well-rounded musical education, and helps to prevent lessons from being too one-dimensional!
Party At The Moon Tower
In case you haven’t already heard, I also have a band! Combining the style of Hard Rock with the energy 2000s Pop Punk, Party At The Moon Tower’s sound is emphatically catchy with a hardcore twist.
This Arlington, TX based trio is composed of the members myself on Guitar and Vocals, Zach Protono on Drums, and Eric Lisenbee on Bass. With every member having a degree in music, this band is the perfect culmination of having a great sound with the talent to back it up!
We are currently hard at work on recording an EP for the world to hear, as well as booking live shows around Texas. So, be sure to follow us because you won't want to miss what this band's got in store!
